As a cabinet maker by trade, I have been thinking for awhile how I would like to refurbish an old camper or airstream, or spartan trailer. I have also spent quite a lot of time building additions, and or whole houses... I'm not sure into what category your project falls, but it looks like fun nonetheless.

Been a cabinetmaker/master woodworker/upholsterer for 40++yrs. The mistake most everyone makes is thinking that these are just a house on wheels. Nothing is further from the truth. What house has to withstand hurricane force winds while simultaneously enduring an earthquake? Over and over and over? Throughout my career there isn't much that I haven't done and can honestly say that the Shasta was by far one of the most fun projects ever. Even with all the setbacks of this project, it's been tremendous fun. If you decide to dive into a project like this just be sure to ignore 99% of the folks that have done it before. Beyond that, I say go for it.

**edit:
I'll add 1 more thing; Many people have built homes and many more have built cars. I built a tiny home that that has been dragged thru 27 states and now over 10k miles, exclusively with a truck that I also built. We've spent hundreds of days/nights boondocking in the Disasta, all under its own support. To me, that sense of accomplishment is like nothing else I've done in the past.

@AZSCAWPION I have been following your threads well...since I joined, and didn't mean to suggest that you were not up to the job, clearly you are and I can't wait to see your continued progress. Please take lots of photos and share what you do and learn in the process. As for me, I am in the middle of trying to build a new shop...well middle might not be correct, I am waiting for the permits and then still have to finalise the financing, but you get the idea...that said, I am looking forward to setting up my machines, and tucking into work. The first will be to get my '66 shipped and registered here in Germany, and tackling the oil leaks. After that...I will be looking for an old Spartan, and Airstream to restore/upgrade.
