So I just replaced my 1966 Ford F100 300ci’s flywheel with LuK LFW132 and now when I go to crank the engine it cranks, gallops really badly, and then completely locks up.
Once it locks up I can’t spin the engine by hand until I pull the starter, then the engine is free.
I am using the original starter with no shims
I don't think that is the correct flywheel, but it might work if you get a different starter. The original flywheels were 168 tooth and the replacements are 164 tooth.
If you still have the original flywheel they can be resurfaced. Here is an ND post with part numbers. 1966 f100 240 3 spd - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

Hey thank you for replying, yes that flywheel does not say it fits this year, although I did count my old flywheels teeth and I got 164 so maybe I miss counted. The reason I got that flywheel was because on another forum someone said that it fit their 66. I was looking at starters and it looks like the one for the 1996 has the gear in a slightly different position, maybe this is what I need?
