I go to car shows and rarely see any bumpsides. Well today I finally saw one. Turns out it was really nice. 1971 Ramger XLT. It. Is a short bed 4X4. It has p/s and pwr brakes. Clean truck. Not mine.
I belong to a car club and take my truck but I also pull the clubs trailer with it when we host the show / cruise.
Most trucks if any show up are the bow ties. Once in a while a Ford will show up.
I went to a cruise on the first of the year and there were 2 -60's and 1 -50's bow ties and 1 -50's Dodge a 50's Ford trucks besides my 81 F100.
Think that is the most I have seen at a cruise.

The car club in the small town that I live in. Has decided to have their "show" be a GM/Mopar appreciation only. Nothing else is allowed to enter. And the cruise that they did on the night before the show has been permanently canceled.
I wonder if they would let AMC's in as they were bought up by Chry
So how long before that club is no longer if they just let in 2 makes?
There is a Classic Chevy club that had to let other makes in or they would be no longer.
When they host a show they do let all makes in.

FuzzFace2 Given that average age of the club members is 65 plus. I'm going with the club not being around in the future. They don't try to involve the youth in the area. They mainly go to Hardee's/Wendy's/McDonalds on a Sat. morning drink coffee and then drive back to their house.
I think why you see the older people in "our type" of club is the "tuners" have their own clubs.
We also had one nice cruise meeting area shut down because of them. When it started up again a few months later down the road in a different place I only drove down and back and left not to go back because it was mostly tuners, I am just not into that.
I would say our club has some 30 somethings in it but you are right most are older. I also know that most of the younger people dont have the time, family's & work, or extra money or know how for and older car. Paying off school, house, saving for kids schools and there activities on weekends it gets hard.
Heck up till last June, I retired, I could not make the monthly meetings or any gatherings during the week and some of the weekend shows I had to see if I could change my work day to Sunday.
The reason I joined the club beside being with like minded people was the club gives back to the community with scholarships, Food Banks, etc. and we volunteer to help for St Jude's car show last 3 years.
We put on 4 cruises and 1 car show but this coming year we also have 2 or 3 veterans day shows, a Ham & Yam festival show and a show to help Special Olympics 50 miles from or home base.
Oh and St. Jude's children's show again when it gets a setup date. Guess I will be pulling the club support trailer a lot this year

Here in Nebraska there is a club that does a cruise through the state that is two days and 500 miles. All vehicles must be 30 years old and older. They limit it to 400 vehicles. This year the registration was full in under 8 hrs. I have done it since 2017. Each year is hosted by a different town and a different route. It is a good time
WOW 400 cars that is crazy.
Some nice looking cars & trucks.
I know we had a little over 100 at our show that we hand out awards and have had at least 100 at our cruises held 4 times a year.
I know of a cruise each month about 30 min away that is pretty big. I only went 1 time and could not get into the shopping center parking lot as they were 6 cars deep trying to get in.
Others parked across the street and looked from afar!
I am not really into the big shows. We have Good Guys Show held here not far from me and I have been asked if I wanted tickets for free I have turned them down so others could go if they wanted to. A few of our club members have gone with cars and also said they would not go back, was not their bag LOL.

That’s why I like the tour Nebraska. Not really a car show just car guys cruising the roads for 2 days. Line up in the morning stop once for about an hour break then stop again for about an hour and a half then back to the host town to do whatever you want
last year ended up being 465 vehicles
The issues with clubs in my area at least is that they are mostly stuckup car guys. You know the ones that have 50000 hp but drive 2 times a years. Or make fun of you for driving a Ford, etc etc etc. I grew up in a car club that was dudes that loved cars and no one cared what they were. I don't see that in my area. The other problem these days is people can't get along. Everything turns into some politicized debate and power struggle. I miss the old guys of my youth. They were a blast. Sadly most are now dead.
tcanthonyii I hear ya man. I was born and raised in Orange County, CA. In the late 1950's. My high school friends and I "wasted" sooo much gas cruising Van Nuys Blvd. Whitter Blvd. Beach Blvd. and also PCH. Now I'm sure that there was a fight or two. But for the most part everybody that I came across just didn't care what you were driving. And if you have ever seen the movie Corvette Summer. The crowd you see on the sidewalks. That's what Van Nuys looked like in real life. Been there and done that. And if I could I'd do it all over again in a heart beat. Some might say that that was a youth misspent. All I know is we sure had a lot of fun.
That’s why I just hang with the older guys. The younger kids just don’t get it. I’m 46 and the guys I hang around with are in their 60s and 70s
there are way to many of those stuck up so called car guys these days

I thought about doing that. Not sure I wanted to jump on board yet. I will in the next couple of years. Just found out about it last summer.
