How to remove leaf spring bushings?

I had this problem in the shackles of my old bronco. If you have a 3-pound sledge you can use a socket to knock it out. Put a large socket on the bottom(big enough for the bushing to fit in) and on the top use a socket that is the same size as the metal sleeve in the bushing. Whack away at it. A few hard hits should bust it free.

To do this job correctly you need a press and either sockets or shelby tubing the same size as your bushing, and a buddy to hold the other end of your spring as you press the bushing out. Use dish soap as a lube when going back together -- grease will ruin the rubber over time. Done it this way many times and works every time!
