I have a 1965 custom cab that I have been working to get the instrument cluster lights working. While testing today, I managed to short the constant voltage unit on the back of the cluster and let the magic smoke out of a component that is plugged into the constant voltage unit. Peeling back the cover revealed a coil of wire around a cardboard core. I don't see anything like this in the wiring diagrams and am looking for some guidance and can't think of any reason to have this coil/resistor in-line with the feed to the regulator. Any wisdom is appreciated.
