Shuts Off, Restarts Almost Immediately

My '95 F150 300, w/ 5 spd (109,000 miles) has started doing this recently. The 3rd time was today. It seems to be ignition related. It's running perfectly, then it cuts clean off. No warning. It restarts by the time I pull off the road. Runs perfectly again.

Of course, I'm afraid it's going to strand me.

In July of '23. I replaced the ignition control module with a Standard LX241 because of a hot no-start issue. (It would start after I hit the original module with the water hose.) Do these have a reputation for failing?

What should I look for? I'd hate to just start throwing parts at it.

Oh, I've tried jiggling the ignition switch while running, no help.

No CEL? No codes? The computer is in control and sees mostly everything of consequence. On an EFI engine, unless something is obvious, checking the computer is the first step in troubleshooting - ignore it at your peril.

I would say it is the ICM again.
Today's parts are junk out of the box but I would think Standard would be a little better than that.
I would say see if you can find a Motorcraft part to replace that Standard one and if it dose not fix it you now have a spare for when one fails.

When swapping the ICM check the plug if it is clean. Talking plugs check the coil connections if clean also.

The only other thing I can think it could be is fuel or lack there of.
Might not hurt to see what PSI the fuel system is running at, idle & under power.
Check the fuel pump relay connections and relay it's self, maybe swap it for another one that is installed for something else as a test.

Let us know what you find as it will help others

I never even thought of the CEL! It's been on (and covered with tape) for so long I forgot about it. It doesn't like the emissions stuff that doesn't work. I have a code checker for OBDII vehicles. I'll have to see how to pull codes on mine. I have an '87 Mustang that I bought new, and (knock on wood), have never had to pull codes, but I remember something about KOEO, etc.

After I check for codes, I'll look into that. Like I said, I hate to start throwing parts at it, but...

Thank you both for your replies and ideas. I don't use it much, and it's supposed to get cold around here, so it could be a bit before I get back. I will though. I hope I can provide help for someone in the future. I have no idea why the font changed. Oh, I somehow hit the "italics" key.

Yes check for codes.
I forgot about the CEL as the 80 - 86 trucks, where I spend most my time, dont have a CEL.

We under stand about the weather and life we will be here when you get back.
