I would guess that if you're seeing systems that include a muffler that those are for the 7.3L gas engine, perhaps.
Which of your vehicles in your signature are speaking of? The 2019 F-250? Like Fritz stated above, there is no true "muffler", but stock exhaust for the 6.7L diesel has a resonator (which some equate to a muffler, in a sense).
I had a 4" without muffler. Took me a few weeks to get sick and tired of the hair dryer noise, especially in the parking garage at work. So I put a muffler on it.

Yes, the 6.7. I see a whole lot of pipes being sold with no muffler. I'm not a big fan of extra noise.
I'm seeing replacement pipes with and without a muffler and I'd like to hear what peoples' experiences are with each. Should I get one wit or witout?
Don't know what the 6.7L would sound like with a DPF and no muffler. After my truck's weight loss, the diesel shop put a 4" Flo Pro. After about a month of hearing drone in the cabin at 70+mph I added another muffler upstream..
I've got the Banks 5" DPF-back exhaust, which has no muffler. I honestly can't tell the difference between it and the OEM it replaced, as far as sound is concerned. At least, not inside the cab.
