2015 super duty crewcab longbox. Auto system does not work both hubs leak plus vac line leaks .checked with gage. So i dont even bother with auto .I lock hubs in confirmed they lock .flick switch to 4 high sometimes it goes in. I can go back to 2 high. . Today was looking for 2 relays I keep reading about . Can not find them.took inner fender out.nothing .wth. took motor off confirmed with a helper the motor works 2h 4h 4l . I Can turn transfercase . I was a quart low on fluid. Put everything back together .left work , long driveway . It worked twice .like it's supposed to . When I was Coming up my driveway did not work .tried over and over .say pull forward then eventually check 4x4 . Keep leaning towards module but I read about two relays .
You won’t find any relays for 4x4 in your truck, your reading about pre 2011 trucks that had 2 relays. Your truck has a TCCM (Transfer Case Control Module) that is located on the passenger side floor up by the firewall, everything in that module is solid state transistors.
I would drain your transfer case and see if you get a bunch of metal/particles coming out with the oil, my guess is you have damage or excessive wear in the transfer case from low oil and the shift motor can’t complete the shift every time.
Do you have any ABS/Traction control lights or codes? The TCCM relies on wheel speeds from the ABS module.
I changed fluid just burnt .no chunks nothing no glitter . Still only goes in sometimes. Locked in this morning fine couple miles down road unlocked fine .locked in again fine ,but would not unlock .stopped unlocked hubs jumped on dry highway went to work. I kept dial on 4x4. Before I parked turn to 2h came out. Is it possible motor is weak .or is it either it works or doesn't.
