6.2 engine milage

Looking at upgrading my farm work truck but don’t want to buy a new on to use for tarmac work and parts running. I have a F-450 for heavy towing but may near to pull a trailer on occasion so not really wanting another F-150
I’m looking at a 2018 F-240 with 6.2 engine but it has nearly 200k miles, I won’t put more than 5-10 k miles per year on the truck but don’t know want mileage life one should expect from a 6.2
Former fleet truck with service records so it’s been maintained but what mileage should one expect to see from these engines and transmissions

Haven't had any trouble from mine. Youngest one I have is in the 19x,xxx range, all others over 200k. No signs that they are going to give up anytime soon. All F250 used as foreman trucks and tow skids or mini ex in the 10-12k range once or twice a week.

The Boss 6.2 came out back in 2010, about 15 years on the road. Generally considered to be very reliable, I've heard 300k is easy with good maintenance. I personally know a few in the 180-230k range and they don't have any engine troubles.

I'd check the idle hours.

I haven’t owned a 6.2 but in general I think these days the engine itself does fine assuming routine oil and coolant changes. What fails are the external parts; water pump, starters, ignition parts, perhaps injectors, transmission issues, suspension, etc. If your handy and can perform some of these repairs a high mileage truck maybe be fine, if not you may see a lot of repair bills for the items above?

My 2cents…

I have 141K on my 19 and it is as strong as any motor I have ever had. Actually just tuned it with a 5Star 87 Daily/tow tune. Drives real nice and smooth now. Got it with 124K just about 14 months ago.

I'm at 186,000 in my 2018 XLT and besides routine maintenance I've never had one issue with the truck. I plan on putting a lot more miles on it.

Thanks,

Shane
