roller rockers?

Does anyone know were i can get some roller rockers for my 400? I have seen some, but they were more than i really wanted to spend. Maybe I might have to buy them but they seemed high at $308. I saw a set of stock design rockers, but they're not roller rockers. Are roller rockers the way to go even though the cost, or could i get away with stock ones?

I am using Crane Energizer Roller rockers on my 400. They cost about $190.00/set. You also need Crane's Guideplate Conversion Kit and hardened pushrods. I am using Trick Flow pushrods (about $85.00/set)

You can get all of these from Summit Racing, JEGS, or PAW.

Roller rockers will improve your high RPM performance, and also reduce the wear on your valve guides.

You can get pedestal mount roller rockers from Scorpion for around $200 a set and they do not require guide plates or hardened pushrods.

If I were you, I really would'nt spend any on Roller Rockers. I have the same kit that danlee has, I really couldn't tell a difference in the power, they may have freed up like 10-15 horse, I didnt have to have hardened push rods thou. The guidplates came with like a plastic ends you put over the guidplates to keep the factory push rods safe, but you do have to replace the plastic peices.. I have 5k miles on the Rockers nowand I have had no problems what so ever, The only difference that I could tell that it made was that it made the engine run smoother and thats one big plus. You dont hear the valve train working.
The only reason I could see you going in this direction is if you had a radical cam and needed an adjustable valve train, That one reason that I did it..
Hope this helps any

Evan

I had a big cam, and ran crane conversion kit, bent all the studs and chewed up all valves and valveguids. But the crane roller rockers worked grate. I went all out, I had tha mechin shop redrill the stud holes and tap them, 7/16. A set of ARP studs, and some comp cam guidplates. 580.00 to get right but worth it.

I have about 40K using the Crane kit. I was disappointed with the performance, barely noticeable. They were 1.8 ratio too. If you run a big cam, the 5/16" bolts aren't up to the task. Use 7/16" screw in studs. 95% sure 460 rocker arms are the same.

That is one of the reasons I don't like what I call cheby style "wobble rockers"! The stud flexes every time the valve operates. With guideplates the rocker moves sideways every time the valve operates also. And yes Ford uses wobble rockers too (302-351W) but somehow they seem to have found the light and stopped but Cheby uses them for everything.

460 rockers are the same.
