Rear Tank Leaking

My 1996 F250 rear tank is leaking. Now that it's cold it's really leaking. Any recomndations on replacing? The front tank in not great shape either but both work. I thought about the single tank but not sure.
thanks,

Can't go wrong with a Bronco rear tank (38 gal) if you want a single or dual tank setup if you keep your front tank

I don't think there's many groundbreaking new advances on making these old tanks. Can't go wrong with a standard replacement.

I did see that CP addict now offers a plastic tank. I'd be interested to know who actually makes that. Their info is vague on their site.

A bigger rear tank may interfere with the exhaust routing. I dump mine out the side in front of the wheels because the tubing hit the axle.

I recently replaced my rear leaking tank with a 38 gallon tank. Only regret is not going with a poly tank.

raybuck has a poly 33 gallon with similar price as my 38 steel tank.

i will say, I got just over 40 gallons when filling the tank for the first time.

Figure both tanks are due. Figure on replacing showerhead pickups. Tanks may come with gaskets for sending units; if not, order those as well.

I saw recommendations to replace the o-rings in the fuel line disconnects (to the sending unit). I don't remember if I couldn't find the o-rings separately, but I ordered the entire disconnects with about a foot of fuel line attached. Only problem was the attached lines didn't match the line sizes on the truck. Getting them connected was a bit of a plumber's nightmare. I vaguely recollect that I reassembled with the original o-rings, had leaks, had to drain and drop tanks, and then replace the disconnects.

Much easier to do everything at once with clean, empty, LIGHT tanks.

I went with stock-size plastic tanks... no rust. And I recollect plastic cheaper than steel in stock sizes. The only issue I see is that plastic tanks are far less rigid... the top and bottom squeeze in and out some, and volume changes. My observation is that you have to be aware of not overfilling and getting the last couple of gallons into the tank. You may be OK sitting still at the pump, but once you start moving, going over bumps, etc and tank starts flexing and changing volume, you're more likely to overflow. If you're doing a "usual" fill and staying a few gallons short of listed capacity, no problem. But if you want to fill to every last ounce of listed capacity, ehhh, maybe steel of the way to go.

My $0.02. Some advice is worth less than what you pay for it.

Is there a general consensus on here about replacement fuel tanks (front and back), sending units, and pickups as far as where to get them or who makes the best stock replacements? Been looking for a while but everything I can find is upgrades. My front fuel tank has a hole in the bottom so I'm going to replace the tank and all the internals and then I'll probably do the rear tank after that.

'Spectra' brand are solid, they come from some place in Canada. No problems with them in multiple applications on my end

Both my senders read wonky now, so I am all ears for that
