Malfunctioning door locks (potential class action) Super Duty 4th generation
I did finally get a reply from the service advisor after reaching out to the service manager and this was the reply. I think the door would have to have a whole lot of water in there to reach the door latch and actuator. I am asking again if this is under the Platinum Care as that question did not get addressed.
Hello, this is Clayton from Freeway Ford Service. I am happy to help with your door actuator concern, but first, I need to be able to duplicate the issue. Otherwise, Ford will not sponsor the repair to replace the actuators.
There are a couple ways to get water out of those doors, all trucks have some drains and a plug in the bottom. Have you tried pulling the rubber plug at the bottom of the door to let moisture out?
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Ford is going to end up eating something on this one I predict.
I contacted Ford Recalls and Customer Satisfaction Programs to see if they would entertain covering the repair assuming it is an actuator even though I am 6 months past the 36 month warranty. They want me to take it to a dealership and pay for an diagnosis before they will give me an answer.
Well, I think mine is under the premium care extended warranty but I cannot get an answer to verify that. I was also told that a video of it failing to work in very low temperatures is not "proof" of an issue.
I would be surprised if the extended warranty doesn't cover that for you. I did get a quote from the dealership today to replace the actuator. They quoted $330, which is not as bad as I thought it would be.
If it’s the front door, that’s not a bad price because the glass is gotta come out. I did mine rather than using the extended warranty.
My 21 F350 driver’s door did the same started acting up and then eventually failed. I have the extended warranty but elected to do it myself since the dealer said I had to have to drop it off and they’d have to diagnose it. Take pictures and send it in to get authorization for parts under the extended warranty. The deductible was $100 in the part was about the same so I did it myself. It wasn’t easy but it be much easier next time.
Not sure what a 4th gen SD is but I have been dealing with this problem since 2003 on the 8 Super Duties I have since then. I am assuming you are talking about the door lock actuators. I have always has multiple go bad. Order them from Amazon and spend the 10 or so minutes to install them and move on with my day.

My 21' Front Drivers door you need to take the glass out. I can assure you it will take much longer than minutes.
