2017 explorer blower auto mode

2017 explorer blower auto mode
hey guys so I tried to look this up and talked to people and they keep saying blower resistor but I'm not sure they understand my problem so here it goes.
start the car up and it's up to temp HVAC is set to 75 (outside is say 25) on auto mode, when on auto the fan will speed up on its own and warm up the car, but it is not doing that its barley coming out at all.
but wait theirs more, now let's switch over to manual mode and set the fan speed on 2 ok that works now 3 that works now 4 and 5,6,7 they all work, and the blower will speed up a little bit each time.
resistor is known to not work at all or just on low or just on high so why is my manual setting working but my auto is not, has this happened to anyone ?
-I also checked the in-dash sensor next to the push button and that is spinning it was very dirty I cleaned it but not sure if that is in need of replacement, but I want to be sure first.
-driver and pass side work the same hot or cold and fan speed
