I searched the previous posts on this and my problem seems slightly different so here I am.
My wiper motor is running very slow. It works on intermitent and on both speeds but it seems to be running (and struggling) at half speed.
The motor is pretty loud and when started I hear a click from under the dash on the passenger side.
I'm pretty sure it's just the "end of life" for the motor but I thought I'd ask here to make sure I shouldn't check something else before spending my money.
The click you are hearing is comming from the WCM (Wiper Control Modual) which is right behind the glovebox. My guess is that either the WCM or the MFS.
I removed the motor and opened it up. Low and behold the magnets are glued to the inside of the case. What happened was, that over time, water had seeped under the lower magnet. Water turned the surface of the case to rust and the glue failed. Every time I turned the wipers on, the armature was rubbing on the loose magnet. Making a heck of a racket. I took the magnet out, sanded all the rust down, and epoxy'd the magnet back in.
I think I'll keep my wallet in my pocket for now and do some exploratory surgery. Luckily I only need the truck a couple of times a month so it can sit wiperless for a few days no problem.
