Update below in original post: After installing my Carli lift and getting an alignment I've found that the steering wheel angle sensor is off. The alignment is great and the physical steering wheel position is centered but the sensor if reading incorrectly. This is what I've grabbed from Forscan -
It seems like the electronic steering wheel resistance/assistance knows like it's off center and the wheel position sensor needs to be calibrated.
I've seen where it sounds like the truck needs to be hooked up to a ADAS tool following an alignment to re-zero the sensor. On the Off-Road screen it's showing 0 degrees and at dead center and seems to behave normally in the driver information center. I've read that this procedure needs to be performed following an alignment, but no further clue on how it's done. Can this be done with IDS and a Mongoose? I'd be willing to purchase because I have no desire to attempt going to the dealership for this, I'm in a rural area and no dealers around will likely know what to do.
ETA - I went pretty far down this rabbit hole. After emailing with Forscan developers I found out some of the module calibration access and other things have changed with 23+ VIN's that have Pre Collision Assist and Evasive Steering. So I purchased both a Mongoose and FDRS license as well as a new Autel scanner that had updates for 2024 VIN's.
Our trucks don't really have a true steering wheel angle sensor reset. The procedure is to go into the ABS module and initialize the IVD sequence which calibrates the Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor. This actually ties out to the steering alignment offset. Luckily I was able to find a good explanation in an overseas article tied to a Ford Explorer on how the IVD module works.
I am running upper and lower Carli steering stabilizers and found that I like the steering feel MUCH better with disabling steering assist completely. This can be done under the Pre-Collision assist screen, however every time you turn it off, it turns back on after a key cycle. If you disable Pre-Collision Assist it stay off each cycle. I see there is an option in ForScan to turn off the steering assist but I haven't tested to see if it sticks ignition cycle to the next. The steering feel you get (at-least in my case with stabilizers) is an even resistance left and right throughout the angular motion. There is no variability in resistance which I'm OK with.
i saw your post on the other forum. i honestly don't think it is an issue. my truck is the same. my truck had the weird steering issue before my carli suspension. it still does occasionally. if there is an easy way to reset or calibrate the sensor, i am all ears.
modern alignment equipment has the reset capability, it should have been done at the time of alignment. I know that some other manufacturers cars will reset as you drive over time not sure if this truck has that capability

True, however I live in rural Minnesota and unless I know exactly what to tell them to reset and in what software it's not going to happen. I'm sure the Ford dealership knows how, but doesn't want to even entertain a discussion since the truck is lifted.
Discount tire had a brand new alignment machine and didn’t have the tool to reset mine. They did check the alignment for me though. They said they needed a special tool to reset because of the lane keep assist and were hoping to get one

What they are talking about is done through a scanner or the alignment machine if it has built in capabilities. The Autel I'm referencing does it but when you go into SAS reset it goes through the same procedure I referenced in the IVD just like FDRS
