Howdy everyone. To go along with the hydroboost swap i did i wanted to also install annelectric vacuum pump so I can eventually remove the stock belt driven pump.
I had ordered a SD vacuum pump and wiring pigtail from Rockauto.
I started by removing the factory jack and lug wrench that obviously never was removed. This is the area I planned to install the new pump.
Believe it or not these bolts did come out. One needed a 6 point and some wd40
There are a few companies that make a bracket but it was ridiculously expensive to ship so I decided to make my own brqcket for free.
Started out with some scrap aluminum.
Once I got the rough measurements, i trimmed it down to fit around the various protrusions.
I smoothed the edges and painted it to blend in a bit. Only used 2 bolts instead of 3 to mount it to the factory inserts on the fender well, the last was down too far for my bracket to work. This pump doesn't weight anything so should be fine.
Here it is all painted and pump mounted.
Still need to wire the pigtail up. Only two wires and ones a ground. That'll be later this week.
What do yall think so far? Trash or might be a worthwhile modification?
I haven't messed with the belt or the stock vacuum pump yet.
I do plan to delete it and run a shorter belt, also looking to do the SD tensioner mod when I do that.
SD tensioner mod was a fun one, i had to cut the idler pulley off with a sawzall just to get at the bolts for that bracket. You have to cut that part off anyway, but it still wasnt fun getting a good angle at it. That was before i got a topside creeper, though.
