Been awhile fellas, well did a oil change and nice service on the old girl, switched to 10w30 and gave her a good bath. Well after that she broke down a mile down the road. I have no power going to the fuel pump. I can jump the fuel pump with a wire from the battery and it comes on. I have tried to trace the wiring and can't for the life of me figure out why there's no power there. Can I run a toggle switch for the fuel pump into the cab and drive it that way. I need this truck for work, without it, I'm ****ed.
maybe the fuel pump relay/ or fuse? there was recent talk about this but i've been all over the place since.
I don't see any harm in properly wiring it through a relayed switch if you can't figure it out right away. Make sure to also fuse it just in case
I believe the factory relay is behind the dash where the flasher relay is. I'd start there if you have already checked all fuses
Where is the fuel pump relay? All I'm seeing is the fuse for the pcm/fuel and other crap. Wich relay is it? I'll try and swap it with a different one tommorow. Everything else works, WTS light comes on all all that jazz. I already have a question able pcm as it won't command the glowplugs on so for the past year I have had them wired up to momentary rocker, I wonder if the pcm is finally Dieng. I will be wiring it to a toggle as I was literally left stuck at my work tonight 1 hour from home in a blizzard to top it off.
I'm not 100% sure where the relay is. I recall it being behind the dash under the radio next to the flasher relay. It's a pain to get to. I honestly do not know why Ford put it where they did. they should have put it on the drivers side of that metal divider plate.
Check the fuel pump cutoff. It's behind the carpet on the passenger footwell. Would take a helluva jolt to trip it tho.
I have already checked that, unfortunately no dice. Pretty much ran all your generic checks you would do. It's so wierd as the truck fired up in the shop and ran outside for half hour, then I took off and it started smoking missing, I knew it was the low fuel sound, got my wife to tow me back to shop. Filled bowl fired up, ran till bowl emptied. Also fuel pump randomly kicked on at some point when I was getting towed and filled bowl as when I got there it was full. Drained and tested fuel pump for power, no power to the pump.

I forget, what year is your truck?
It's a 2000, sounds like it will be behind the dash, ah so cut a hole in the dash for easy access? Haha. Sounds like toggle switch will be my best bet until I get time to look into it further. Or I could run it to something that has constant power with key forward correct?
this will be hard to watch, just scroll through it. this guy takes forever to get to the point. I find it easier to pull the lower dash piece or go through the lower ashtray/ trash can access hole.

that's what the guy did in the video I linked until he could get to the relay. It definitely sounds like the relay to me. this guy had the same issue you are having

Definitely sounds like a possibility, I didn't skip thru the video, I made myself suffer thru it all, that was a mistake lol. Anyways. I should be able to check the inertia power for power then without having to pull the whole dash apart as quick troubleshooting. If there's power to the inertia switch then it's likely bad wire from there on, if there's no power there it will be that relay or pcm?
do whatever you need to but stop at the parts store and pick up that relay...I'm pretty sure that will be your issue, Or borrow one from your buddies/ co-workers truck
I know you've had struggles in the past; hopefully this one will be a straight forward simple fix
If you are really good, you can reach those repays from underneath, otherwise I would try removing the lower ash tray/ trash can holder panel of the lower dash. it's only 2 7mm screws. worst case, a few more 7mm screws and the lower dash will come out
you should be able to remove the lower dash in 2.5 minutes...5 max.
I'll grab the relay when I grab a toggle switch tommorow, It sure sounds like this. I should be able to get it from the bottom, I'm decent 5 out of 10 for getting into ****ty spots, I'll update after I get a chance to do some more digging.

And yes should be an do are different things, ripped the passenger kicker panel to pieces trying to get it out in the cold and it's just brittle **** just exploded.
