95 7.3 - replacing pump & rod at base of pump fell into engine. Turned pulley at alternator trying to turn cam & get it to drop into oil pan. After a few turns, it started to bind...assuming it's the rod binding the cam but not sure. Suggestions?
Turned crankshaft opposite direction a ways and heard rod fall into pan. Isn't the cam supposed to be marked somehow to set position for installing new pump?
New fiel pump installed...still won't crank. Takes 10-12 cranks to fill fuel bowl but just won't turnover. Restriction? If so, where to start? Trips to the beer box starting early today😁. Open to any/all advice.
Finally got it going and all seems normal...can't identify any reasons for such hard starting other than just air in system. I've just never experienced one that took so long to bleed air out.
