I have owned my 2001 explorer sport trac since new. It has 13,000 mi. and is spotless, in MINT condition. One problem that Ford can't seem to find an answer for....Battery discharge. They thought it was the alternator, replaced 5 days ago, once again battery was dead after sitting for just 5 hours at work. Doesn't happen everyday, sporadic, maybe once a week. It will hold a charge and I park it for a few hours only to go back and find it dead. Everytime I take it to Ford Dealership they put it on their diagnostic equip. and so forth and say they can't find anything at all wrong with it. Have done load test and several other tests, nothing. Tried replacing alternator thinking diodes were bad, same result 3 days later.....dead battery. Hopefully a Good Ford Tech will read this and share some insight with me! Please help!
Finally found the problem. I may not be spelling this correctly, but it was the gem module up under the dash. Took the dealership 3 tries to order the correct one and 1/2 hour to change it.
