Truck bed

Looking for a bed for my 79 f250. Long bed dual or single tank. Prefer dual tank but at this point I’d take either. I just hate to put a flat bed on it but I’m about at that point. I’ve posted here before and don’t get anything remotely close to Midwest. Does anyone have or no someone who does?

Thanks

Yes finding a rust free cheap bed or one that is repairable and still cheap is very hard to do now days. You might be better off to just build one. AMD has all the parts. https://www.autometaldirect.com/body...t=10&mode=grid

Or you 2nd best bet might be to find a complete truck (with a good or great bed) on Craigslist on FB MP and buy the complete truck. Get what all you need and then flip sale the rest. Have you asked your FTE state chapter folks? Illinois link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum122/

Or asked this guy next door, I think he gets a lot of his trucks from out west. https://www.rustfreeclassics.com/

I've seen some mighty slick looking flat beds, but I understand.

Just as food for thought, not knowing your use, etc ..... just posted in another thread, doing a copy paste here.
  • I once dated a girl and her car was messed up and in a shop, then suddenly she showed up at the "Burger Noodle" in her dad's pickup truck, it looked a little off somehow. He had painted it dark maroon with a black stripe in the dent .... but then it dawned on me what was "off", was a "Dent side" bed on a "Bump side" truck. If you didn't look for it, it didn't jump out and it really looked OK.
  • When I transferred to here in the early '80s, local fellow had a '78 0r '79 Dent side (big grille, rectangle head lights) with an early '80s bed on it, all painted the same bright red, had a black stripe in dent, it too looked fine.
  • Have seen a few Dent side cabs in front of '80s or newer Flare side beds, I think they look better than a Dent Flare side bed .... it's the fenders from the early '50s just look out of place to me on a Dent.

Just gonna use it as a weekend driver kinda deal. Maybe haul some wood. I have a Bradford flat bed guy near by who could put one on but. I’m just hoping to find a descent one. Back in 2010 you could get a rust free one for 1200$
