I've seen people go forever without changing spark plugs. it depends on how well your vehicle runs and with newer computer controlled vehicles, they should last longer. Last time I had spark plugs was on my 79 truck with a carb so IDK.
Back in the day, it didn't matter how often you changed them, they were cheap enough. In todays world you want to prolong it as long as possible. I'd run them until you notice odd behavior, but that's just me
I hear guys say 100K in the tritons. I have 156K on my 99, Out upcoming move will take about 10K of back and forth. Honestly Im having nightmares of blowing a plug on the road in the middle of nowhere. Locally they want $300 a hole to do inserts. Its either that or I replace them and use locktite 266 to glue them in. If the new plugs last close to that 100K mark, perfect, it will take 20 years to do 100K on it. The truck will be used up by then and I wouldent care. if the heads were ruined.
I did my 2003 5.4L at 100K. Not necessarily because they needed it, but I felt it was about time. The truck was running fine before, and maybe ran a little finer after, but really, I didn't notice much difference. But it was okay. It probably could have easily gone much further without a plug change. I sold the truck with about 125K on it, and the guy that bought it drove it another 40K or so before someone smacked him and totaled the truck. Such a shame. That was an awesome truck.
I thought all modular spark plugs lasted the life of the truck since you can't get them out, or they decide for you when they're toast by spitting them out.

Im glad I missed the spitting plugs but I did have to briefly deal with the 2 piece ones. Luckily my trucks get a lot of miles very quick so the plugs never set in and all came out with ease to be replaced with the one piece version. I changed mine every 3,000 engine hours. Never lost a catalytic converter unlike other guys I know who waited until misfire codes.
My '99 V-10 went 120K mi before I replaced them. Pure dumb luck... I didn't know about the plugs shearing off back then... they all came out and went back in just like a normal plug change.
My '09 V-10 still has the original plugs in... at 215K miles. I kept putting it off, putting it off, putting it off... until it was too late. There is no way on this planet I'm going to try and change those plugs now....
