Just curious if any of you 04 SD V-10 guys ( and gals ) have found any good performance mods for your rigs? i.e. Intake, Exaust, Chips, ect.
The biggest bummer about buying a new ride is waiting for the aftermarket guys to catch up
Well I would say that most of the 99-03 stuff would work. FORD hasn't really done much to the V10s since 00.
I haven't looked at a 04 yet but I'm sur eit all the same under the hood.
I'd look into a intake kit, headers, new muffler, chip/programmer, throttle body.
As a new 04' F-350, XLT, SC, V-10, 6-speed, DRW, Owner myself, I too am anxious to do some mods, like the intake, muffler, and hopefully the Accufab throttle body, not sure about the headers though!! But with only 1200 and some miles on it, I want to break it in first, and see where my mpg run and if there is any increase as it breaks in.
So far my mileage is from 8.3 to 9.9 mpg LOL, , but I did see if I go for a cruise it does get better then driving around here, Lots of big hills here in eastern CT, or right where I live anyway.
I do like this truck very much, and not unhappy that I traded in my 99, PSD, F-350.
As my signature says,Banks Power Pack and a 93 octane Diablo chip. Not a single disappointment from either when it comes to delivering significant HP increases.
Hey M350,
I hear ya on the break in. I'm gett'n 9.0 around town but over the holiday I tracked 275 highway miles and averaged 13.1 mpg. Not bad for the V-10? Still the single best mod I have had in the past ( as far as MPG goes ) is the K&N FIPK but they don't have one for us yet? Soon I hope. I also had a Superchip in last F-150 and that helped the mgg's a little and was a dramatic change in shift point performance. I hope I can get some similar results from these mods w/ the V-10.
hey shadow,,I wish mine would get 13.1 mpg, but no real trips yet, I can only hope,,, Now for the mods,,I see that the Mac air induction setup, # 1374, for the V-10, claims they produce 22.7 more HP,,can this be right ?? Look in the Motorhaven store at FTE.
Has any one purchased this, and found this to be the results ? If so that seems to be a nice jump in HP, for a couple hundred $$.
Not sure about the K&N setup,,,,I have a buddy that had the K&N filter on his Dodge cummins and he noticed a dirty residue on his turbo vanes, after being told they let more dirt in, which he promptly changed filters !!
Now the Airforce )one setup seems kinda cool, it has a venturi setup that increases velocity, which inturn cool the air temp down a few degrees, and it is stainlees steel, Please anyone that has experience with either type,,like to hear your input !
For m350: big hills in eastern Connecticut? You have got to be kidding, come out west and see what hills really are (Idaho). For Shadow Hills: K&N, Mass air sensor, BBK throttle body, Borla headers, Flowmaster. LOTS more power, last tank of fuel at 70mph constant was 13 mpg. Not too bad. Best ever was 14
Not trying to start the V10-diesel arguement "AGAIN". But I'm curious, why spend money to hop up the V10. Maybe you should have bought the 6.0l diesel.
In response to chipper: I paid cash for the truck new, and the extra 5 large was more than I had at the time. So,,,,, I put $1,700 into all the extra crap to make more power, because I thought the stock v-10 was a dog. Have you ever got a really good look at the manifolds and Y pipes? They are the stupidest design I have ever seen, not to mention the most restrictive. If I was doing it again I think I'd do diesel.
I looked into the pro's and cons for my uses of 6.0 v.s. 6.8 and the V-10 was better for me. I'm more of a wheeler than a tower but I do haul a decent amount of lumber from time to time. So that being said I would like to get a little more performance / MPG in my 10 for about 1/5th the cost of the diesel's up front cost.
Camo, Yes I know the hills are moutains out west, but these hills here on RTE 14 in Eastern CT, are no slouchs, just ask any truck driver, I can recall an accident , on one of these socalled little hills, where a log truck missed a gear, to make along story short, he twisted the driveshat off, and rolled it over too! Its gotta be alot diff then living in the midwest, where its rather flat. I'll take the worse gas mileage instead of the tornados though . Later,,,,,,,,,,Mark
M350, yeah, you're right. There are some good sized hills in the east. Going down into Wilkes-Barre PA on rte 115 is one of the nastier ones. Here in Idaho, there are almost no runaway truck ramps. Heck, there aren't very many guard rails! You roll the dice and take your chances. I would not worry about tornados in the midwest, hills are there all the time. Anyhow, have a good one and keep the rubber side down. Camo4stealth
Well I'am picking up my 04 F250 CC V10 tomorrow nite. And like you guys I couldn't wait to get the Mods. So these are the things that I have waiting to install. Accufab TB, Borla stainless headers, AFE intake kit, 305/70/16 pro comp X terrains, 16X8 MT classic locks, I'am still undecided about the exhaust either bassani or Magnaflow cat back. I see some of you have mentioned some product names in your posts that have some far fetched claims as to how much performance gains you will achieve just remember the old addage. You get what you pay for just don't pay to much. And yes most of the items that fit a 00-03 will work on an 04. Well I will keep you posted as I will probably not put these things on for at least 1500-2000 miles. Want to break her in stock. If your interested in where to get the best prices on any of these items shoot me a message. I know how to play the mail order game.
