thank you I did ask the mechanic I used for 30 years since I never got the answer on here just sarcasm and yes so far so good zero shudder but I’m not risking driving it for thousands of miles no shops were open and I just needed to make a couple hundred mile round trip. Truck ran fine temp stayed below the usual 205 it stayed at 195 doing interstate speeds. This trucks going into the shop Monday up here in my small town everything closed before and after Christmas. Sorry I was an ******* but when someone already has a plate full to deal with the last thing they need is a bunch of smartass remarks about how stupid they are for what they did just to try to get home to family. Rant over last post on here.
To clean up, the trans is a 6r80 6 speed.
A very expensive unit to put rear end additive in a very different and expensive design.
The old type 4r70 etc could use (transmission) additive meant expressly for Transmission use and known to work at times.
The replies were meant to relate to the large expense that might result and add to the final outcome.
But that was all taken wrongly.
Not arguing the point but offering the truth about all of it.
I and others would have parked the truck rather than risk further damage regardless of the circumstances.
10r80 are in the $7 to $ 8000 Range and not worth running with any additive to create that kind of possible expense.
Don't tell the shop what you did!.
Good luck.
I've got 195k on my 2015 I started to get shutter. My mechanic suggested dr tranny. Figured why not, and if it doesn't work, I got 192k out of it. I've since put on 3k miles and no shutter.
Wow, my 2016 started to shutter and I drove it for about 3 months before I had the transmission flushed with BG cleaner and refilled. Never heard of an additive, but did hear the only way to get rid of the shutter was a flush. Been driving it for about 10k miles with no issues at all. I don't like the fact that there is no dip stick on these 6sp transmissions and not a good way to do you own work on them. So far this is the only maintenance that I have had to pay someone else to do.

What you need is the B&M transmission dipstick kit. Just remove the OEM shorty and thread in the B&M. Problem solved.
