One of LEER'S plants where they make the caps, is about a half hour away from where I live. My dad was checking into getting one for his chev and he picked up a brochure<sp?>. The high rise model(122) sells for $919. The one I was thinking about is $1279. I think i'll keep my tarp for that kind of $$$. JERICO is another brand made in the same area but I don't know anything about them.
good luck
I wouldn't go with Leer... I have heard nothing but bad things about their products on this site and elsewhere on the web.
I don't have any personal experience with Leer, but I did own a fiberglass cover from ARE on my old Ranger and had no problems. If I was buying a cap for my F-250, it would be from ARE.
I have a Century cap, the top of the line around 1200$. Color matched to truck, and very happy with it,other then the rear window leaks some. Paint has held up good and the tinted glass windows are same as the ones on my SD Crew Cab. Would buy another one if needed.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-Jan-03 AT 10:21 AM (EST)]I currently have a Leonard cab high fiberglass cap on my Ranger that I am very pleased with (although the paint color is not a perfect match).
I would have to say, that of the 3 camper shells (all mid range/price fiberglass) that I've owned over the years, the Leonard seems to be the best.

All I can say is STAY AWAY FROM SNUGTOP. I had a nightmare issue with them. 2 caps later, and 100% of my money back - I am finally happy. 1999 Crew Cab Duallie - the cap kept cracking - not once - many many times. They fixed and fixed and fixed until they said they werent giong to fix anymore and gave me 100% of my money back PLUS as long as I sent back my serial plate from the cap - I got to keep it. Its already been disposed of. It was beautiful - the paint matched 100% and looked awesome. Email me and I will send you pics of cracks and such
Thanks!

ok here is my cap - sorry the pics are kinda crappy and I dont have alot of them - I wish I had the pics of the back corners completely broken and flapping in the wnid!
Thanks for the warning forevrz24. I will steer clear of them. It's to bad because from affar the cap looks great style wise. To the companies credit it does appear that they are responding to the pressure created by you. Ford could use a lesson in real customer care. They are so arrogant in their approach to 'problem vehicles' .......Ford see's it as 'problem customers'
If you buy used, always check for stress cracks on the backside, near the two upper corners, where the cutout is for the rear door. I had a no name model a few years back, and after about 75,000 miles, it developed hairline cracks from the upper corner of the door to the top corner of the cap.
Oh yeah, it also leaked around the door frame.
In Illinois at the time, the installation of the cap allowed me to change the license from a truck to an RV, which if you live or work in Chicago means you can now drive on about 25% more streets! Plus you can drive on all lanes of the expressway!
