About 4 years ago I had the power steering rack replaced on my 95 AWD 4.0l . It has developed a drip from the rubber boot at one end of the piston, and I have to top up the fluid every so often as it whines. The garage that did the work tell me it only had a 1 year guarantee for part or labour.
I presume there is a simple seal at each end of the rack.(?)
A couple of questions, 1. Is there a replaceable seal at each end of the rack, and if yes can it be replaced while the rack is in the vehicle?
And, 2 if the seal can be replaced is there a part number?
Or, do I just bite the bullet and buy a new rack?
Thanks.
EDIT: Research tells me 'Buy a new rack!' Does anyone have part nos for the AWD and the 2WD racks please? Some websites say both are the same, but I need confirmation.
Apparently it' the same model for both 2WD and AWD. I haven't found repair parts for these, and you never know if just replacing the seals is sufficient.
It comes with new inner tie-rods, and no core required, so you can keep your old one take it apart if you want to for a closer look.
Unfortunately, it can't be shipped to CA due to lack of Prop 65 documentation.
