Tailgate up/down + cover article

I know the thread was a while ago, but here's a link to an article that discusses how aerodynamic drag is affected by driving with the tailgate up, down, with web gate, and with a tonneau cover.

Hey, thanks. I just finished my home brew aluminum diamond plate cover. Now I need to find out if winter gasoline gives lower mileage then summer gasoline.

Thanks,

I needed that article.

Seemed to remember seeing info to that effect on literature that came with my truck back in 93- but couldn't remember the details.

Thanks for the link. There will still be many who believe that tailgate down saves gas.

When I first got my truck a friend of mine told me to keep the tailgate up because it can loosen up the bedsides.

Winter gas is formulated with additives to help keep it from freezing (higher % alcohol) so it will get worse mileage also the air is heavier when it's cold (good for power not fuel economy) so the engine runs richer as less air is "sucked" in in the same amount of time.
