You don’t leave them on with oncoming traffic. Many are designated for off road use only. Some states require that the light be completely covered when on public roads while others require an amber cover. Still, other states don’t care either way.

I haven’t installed one yet but can say that there are hundreds if not thousands of super duty’s in Alaska with led light bars in position 1.

moose avoidance.

it's very high on my list of mods.

+1 I despise these light bars, around here they have them on at high noon blinding everyone on the street.

some of them are even curved so they shine into the other lane.

odd, still shows that bracket on backorder. would've preferred it over the bmc bracket (install was a pita and only allowed 3 lights)

I installed 2 of these on my 2022 F250:

https://www.f150leds.com/collections...umper-bar-copy

They made me a special harness to hook both up to a single on/off button in the cab. I agree these are only for back roads when no other cars are around.

While not a light bar in position 1, 2, or 3.... The photo below shows another option designed to do the same thing while remaining mostly factory looking. Not only do they produce excellent light, you can order them as all amber, or all clear, or a mix. Furthermore they have all SAE Street Legal options, or off-road only options, or a mix. From my perspective, a light bar may be irrelevant if running these.

Looking at the bracket posted earlier, it will only work on trucks without adaptive cruise (AC) according to their pictures and description on their site. The BMC works with AC, but because AC takes up room, it's only 3 lights or a relatively small light bar. Beyond that, I know nothing of the differences. Looking at the OP's photo, I would say you likely have AC.

I ended up buying the BMC kit with Baja lights. It wasn't light on price, and I really don't have much of a reference. I've never had a light bar, pods, or essentially anything other than stock lighting in the past. With that caveat, I've been happy with mine. I've had them installed for about a month now, and I can say it does make a difference... Would I say it makes a $1k+ difference...? I'm not positive. I'd have to try out the others to really know for sure. I do like them. They are super bright. They light up the road like I thought they would.

The way I had approached it was with 3 brands at the top of my list. Rigid, Diode Dynamics, and Baja. I will admit, I fell into the "it's only this much more" trap. Rigid is the base level, but for a little more, you can get DD. But if I'm doing that, really, I could pay just a little more and get the Baja. What pushed me over the edge was BMC did a discount code a couple months ago that brought the whole kit to the price of the Rigids. (When really, the Rigids would have been even cheaper with the promo.) I also avoided the linkable design for one reason: the front camera. From what I could tell, it would really affect the sightlines and I paid plenty for that stupid camera. I'm not going to intentionally block it.

I don't have any photos on me at the moment, but if you're really interested, I can try and get some over the next few days or so. One problem I'm currently trying to solve is a front plate. Because of the 3 pods in the middle, I don't want to block them with my plate, so I've taken it off for the moment. I know there's plate holders for when you have the winch, but I haven't been able to find a definitive part number to order. Just something to think about if your state requires two plates.

I ran the same as this, just a single on the bumper to an upfitter. Super-bright and a clean install.

Did you go with the SAE’s? A local BMC dealer said the SAE versions have a built-in reflector that creates a horizontal cutoff and lower lumen output bulbs for DOT/SAE compliance. But, he said the bulbs can be replaced with higher lumen bulbs.

I went with S2 pros with driving combo lenses. I have mixed feelings on it. They’re very bright and I suspect they could get me pulled over if I got a cop on the wrong day. So I’ve bought wide lenses to see if that’ll spread the beam out a bit more and avoid blinding anyone. I haven’t put them in yet, though I want to in the next couple days.

I avoided the SAE only because I figured they’d essentially be the same as stock. Not that those weren’t okay, but I wanted a little more. I didn’t know about replacing the LEDs. They turned out to be a lot brighter. I think the wide lenses will do the job to avoid getting it directly in someone’s face. If you’re thinking you’ll just turn them off, remember that a fog turns on as you turn the wheel at low speeds.

The fogs on my '24 CCLB Limited are pathetically anemic, and I had the same concerns about the SAE S2's. They're only rated at 1,210 lumens. The regular S2's are rated at 2,245 lumens. I figured, I can pump the SAE's up to the 2.245 lumens and (hopefully) concentrate all that light below the horizontal cutoff if I need to.

I'm going to put the Squadron SAE lights next to the S2's, so I shouldn't be lacking for light in bad weather. Have you set the Bambi setting in ForScan so the fogs come on with the high beams?

I'm trying to figure out a way that I can use the Pro Vehicle Integration System ("VIS/UIS") as an ON-OFF-ON toggle switch so I can choose to have them on by themselves or have them on when the high beams are on. The regular upfitter switches in the overhead console are only ON-OFF, so it would take two of the six upfitter switches for each light, and I run out of switches before I run out of lights.

I've had the same debate with light location. I drive lots of back country roads at night and in fog an snow often. I need more light for my aging eyes and less reflection in fog and snow.

I started with the BMC dual fog installation using amber Squadron Sports and S2 Sports. And then added a 10 inch clear S8 bar in the winch pocket. All have the combo lenses.

Running without headlights this morning and just the 4 fog lights...

Adding in the S8...

Need to raise the S8 and lower the Squadrons a touch.

I am sitting on a 30 inch S8 that was going to go on top of the bumper, not sure if I need it.

You could tuck 3 Squadron or Xl pros in the winch pocket pretty easy and really boost the lumens.

Thanks for the plate part number!

here’s what mine looks like. I also swapped the lenses for the S2’s between the photos. So they started amber driving combo and now they’re clear cornering wide lenses.
