Not my first 10 speed, so I know they have weird shifts, but on the way home after it sat outside all day in 10 degree and lower temps, it did some crazy funky shifting, with held shifts with no acceleration felt. You know how it feels when the traction control kicks in and power is cut, but in this case the engine was at nearly 3K when it was felt, almost as if it went into neutral. That was when I first pulled out. Also the engine was idling @1200 RPM when started. After that the shifts were sluggish, 123578910, or 124678910, just random gears. Even when fully warmed up the shifting wasn't normal. Until yesterday, it never touched 2nd gear, was always 135678910. <- this is the pattern I am used to.
It's still very cold here, 0 when I got up and now 3*, so driving it now will more than likely produce the same results. Need to wait until it gets above 30 again before I can compare, provided it shifts normal in warmer temps. Even though the F150 and F350 10 speeds are not the same, the logic is pretty much the same, they shift the same, but my F150 never shifted like this even when it was -30 below.
Is this normal behavior for the SD 10 speed? It feels like its binding up, or contemplating the next shift and holding the gear when it should shift.
This is the first I've heard of a 24 skip shifting. My 21 would normally shift 13567 like you describe but my 24 always hits every gear and that's been ubiquitous from what I've read until now. Might be worth seeing a dealer will reprogram?

My 2023 doesn't skip shift. Sounds like there is more wrong with the OP's trans than a programming error.
Then it sounds like Ford still has more work to do on this 10 speed

Yeah very well could be. I just think there's a sliver of a chance it's more than coincidence that his is behaving exactly like the 2022 and prior behave. I can't guess how, but maybe it's running on old firmware.
now that it has warmed up above freezing, 1235678910, skips 4. However it shifts smoothly again. When it shifts smooth I am not feeling the gear changes, feels like a CVT, so just assumed it was doing the gear skips like the one in the F150 did. The problem I experienced was it wasn't shifting, it was hanging in 2nd and 4th, then jumped to 6th. Even fully warmed up it shifted erratically but now its OK.

That's what I was reading. That's not likely a software issue...
Glad it moved on... but I'll be curious to see if it shows back up.
Oh, its working perfectly fine now. 31* this morning, shifting good, no flares, no hangs, just bam bam bam bam through the gears silky smooth. Going to be a while before its gets down to those same temps, though I am parking the truck outside as I have my Flex taking up the garage space while I get some work done on it. It is stuck on vent only, so not driveable in the winter since no floor or defrost works. That and it needs the timing chain tensioners replaced as they are clacking on cold starts now with 187K of wear. New water pump and oil pump too while its opened up. Supposed to get down to 12 over the weekend, but the highs are in the 20's so wont know if it will be driven when its 12.
