Weird EGR issue
Long story short. I plugged in my cargo trailer
and it caused my EGR valve to have an issue. Basically drove my truck and everything was good. Hooked up my cargo trailer and noticed the turbo sounding weird. Went to drive the truck and it has no power and is dumping smoke out of the tail pipe. Stopped and unhooked the trailer and truck runs fine. So unplugged the EGR valve hooked trailer back up and all is well. Basically I’m guessing I have a short somewhere that is somehow causing an issue with the functionality of my EGR.
I have hauled with this truck most of its life. This is a new issue (haven’t hauled a trailer in over a year). I did however accidentally drive off with the wiring harness plugged into my trailer and could have caused some damage to my factory trailer wiring harness last time I hauled. I just can’t fathom where any wires to do with trailer towing would cross paths with EGR valve wiring.
if anyone has any idea where these wires might cross paths it would be greatly appreciated.
thank you.
