I recently had my engine replaced by a mechanic, and now I'm noticing a rattling noise when I accelerate. The rattle happens underneath the truck, regardless of speed whether I'm on the highway or stopping and going. It occurs every time I press the gas pedal. However, it doesn't rattle when the truck is in Park, even if I floor the gas pedal. The rattle only happens when the truck is in gear.
Could it be that the mechanic forgot to top off the transmission fluid during the engine replacement? Is it possible to lose transmission fluid during the engine removal process? I noticed the fluid level was low when the truck was at operating temperature, so I added a quart, but the noise persists. Any thoughts or suggestions?
