Pop goes the spark plug
Today I heard a pop then poo poo poo poo poo poo and engine a little rough. I was able to make it home on 9 cylinders. I knew right a way what just happened. Fortunately it was the middle plug on the passenger side so there's room to get at it. Thank goodness for YouTube.
Ordered a repair kit, coil and 10 Motorcraft spark plugs. Might as well change them all. I did noticed a tick a few days ago and mentally was thinking I should check the plugs.
Use one of the GOOD repair kits, not the cheap $30-40 ones if you plan on keeping the truck. Re-install all plugs at 25-28 lb-ft torque.
But, that's how it's done . After copious amounts of air and inspections I tapped the hole using just a ratchet. More blowing and blowing till it looked good. I put ant seize on the plug then screwed it into the insert. Then loctite on the insert. Amazingly it screwed into the head, Torqued to 23 ft pounds.
really nice. I let sit just over 25 hours. Then I had to unscrew the spark plug because my stupid spark plug socket wouldn't let go because of the rubber insert
The insert stayed put. I ended up taping the extension to the socket so it'd pull out.
The new tapped hole has just as many threads as the inserts and the same for the plugs. Really thinking the odds of spitting one out is nil.
