Pop goes the spark plug

Yay for me. Today I heard a pop then poo poo poo poo poo poo and engine a little rough. I was able to make it home on 9 cylinders. I knew right a way what just happened. Fortunately it was the middle plug on the passenger side so there's room to get at it. Thank goodness for YouTube. Ordered a repair kit, coil and 10 Motorcraft spark plugs. Might as well change them all. I did noticed a tick a few days ago and mentally was thinking I should check the plugs.

Yep, that was the early warning.

Use one of the GOOD repair kits, not the cheap $30-40 ones if you plan on keeping the truck. Re-install all plugs at 25-28 lb-ft torque.

I got a CEL this week... misfire on #6. It comes and goes when it's cold, so I'm hoping it's just a coil. I don't really want to try and tap out a broken plug...

I ran a bore scope into the cylinder to check things out. Here's a pic of the threads. I expected more damage. I'm half tempted to put a plug in and see if it will tq down.

Pop pop pop!

Just had mine blow out today, I had planned to investigate a minor ticking noise that had started weeks ago. Seems I didn’t have to investigate far

Alright. Got it done. I used a Kefly brand repair kit mainly because it came with 10 sleeves. Ordered everything from Amazon. Kit, 10 Motorcraft plugs and 1 coil, Loctite. I probably watched 10 videos repeatedly lol. Reamed the hole with an air ratchet then inspected the cylinder. OMG the chips. I about freaked. But, that's how it's done . After copious amounts of air and inspections I tapped the hole using just a ratchet. More blowing and blowing till it looked good. I put ant seize on the plug then screwed it into the insert. Then loctite on the insert. Amazingly it screwed into the head, Torqued to 23 ft pounds.

really nice. I let sit just over 25 hours. Then I had to unscrew the spark plug because my stupid spark plug socket wouldn't let go because of the rubber insert The insert stayed put. I ended up taping the extension to the socket so it'd pull out. The new tapped hole has just as many threads as the inserts and the same for the plugs. Really thinking the odds of spitting one out is nil.

I finally got around to changing the remaining 9 plugs. Did the easy driver's side first. The plugs came out no problem. I reinstalled new plugs and torqued to 21 foot pounds. The passenger side went ok as well with one exception. I just fixed cylinder #3 so I left that one alone. Cylinder #4 had an aftermarket coil on it (the other 9 were Motorcraft) When I pulled that plug out a repair sleeve came with it, It wasn't tight at all. It appeared kinda grimy which made me wonder if it was installed all the way. Defiantly didn't appear to have any thread locker. Since I have 9 sleeves left over from my kit I decided to use a new one with loctite. Torqued them to 21 as well,
