First deer

Sharing with everyone, My son got his first deer last wed. A button Buck. Im so proud, he completed the hunters safety course like a pro. Well it wasnt very large, but the meat will be used and it was a learning experience for him, he just turned 12, and I know some start out younger.. BUT anyway, Im a proud papa!

I am jealous I am 21 and have only a few squirrels...and a few thousand fish....I havbe only been hunting once I am more a fisherman , I do however plan on stating hunting more often this next year. I still need to learn how to field dress a deer and what not...some of the ropes basically. I loved the squirrel hunting that was most entertaining.....but hten again it was alot more laid back, walk around the woods, shoot trhe ****, pick off a few squirrels now and then....I htink we got 12 males, two females when we were hunting...(The owner of the land wanted us to leave as many females as possible) I learnewd how to skin and clean the squirrel, and now..tehy are all gone and eaten.....cooked a few of em over the fire that very night...

Good to hear.

It's something neither of you will forget.

Pretty big experience for a young kid, especially if its their first real experience with death.

It should be the start of years of great memories yet to be made.

I wish my dad had also taken me hunting instead of just fishing all the time. I love to fish but still....I love that smell after you fire a gun, the thrill of seeing your target hit the ground. plus alot of free meat.
