I love my 2024 SD; I have the optional H.O. motor which is a beast.
Does anyone know if there is a way to improve the throttle response? In my experience it takes a beat or two for the power to build, which may also be called turbo lag, not sure but I would be interested in improvement if there is a fix.
Do the diesels have the eco driving mode? If they do, you're not using it are you? I know in my 2024 7.3 the throttle response is quite slow when I have it in the eco mode. I quit using it because I saw no real difference in fuel mileage from the normal mode and the throttle response sucked quite frankly.
A Throttle Controller will allow you to change throttle response to whatever you want. I have a Soler Performance Controller on my 7.3 gas and had one on my 2017 base manual Corvette.
Banks Pedal monster will wake it up, just don't set it wide open if you have a gravel drive or drive in snow. I learned quickly to keep it off track mode in order to save my driveway.
@Kromer I know this might spark a sidetracked debate—hopefully not. It's just my experience, but I installed an open-air intake on my 2023 6.7L, and the throttle response is noticeably improved. I bought a model from S&B and I am extremely happy with it. The installation was perfect and easy. I get a very faint turbo whistle now, which I like. Assuming the filtration tests / QA are accurate, it filters as-well as the Ford box. I might go with the Banks model if I did it again, but I won't change it. The throttle is much snappier but still smooth. I like it - and would do it again.
I don't want to debate whether or not anyone should install one of these units, just my experience. It was $350.
I ended up putting a throttle mod on my 6.7. It doesn't add any power, and you can do the same thing with your foot but it didn't feel natural needing to use that much foot movement. I used the Banks Pedal Monster and appreciated that it disabled itself in reverse. Others might do that too I'm not sure.
I just bought a low mile 2024 F350 Platinum and notice when I slow for a turn, turn in, then attempt to apply throttle, there is nothing there. No engine response so it isn't turbo lag...just like the throttle isn't doing anything. If I hold it where I expect power to be it will just fall on its face until I add more throttle and then I finally get a response. I have experienced this merging into traffic once in a while as well. I might add 1/4 throttle to where I'm at to accelerate in and it does absolutely nothing, meaning it is as if I didn't do anything at all. If I give it 3/4 then it takes off like crazy. It isn't 100% of the time so it must be in certain RPM ranges or whatever. Anyway, is this what people are getting the Pedal Monster for or is this something different?
