stupid light

ok guys my service engine soon light... i have no explination for it... but heres the issue when ever i downshift to like pull off the highway or suttin and the motor goes higher than 2500 the light comes on until i shift into a higher gear and then it turns off.
help me out.. thanks

That wierd, have you pulled the codes yet? If you don't have a code reader click here. Hope this helps. If you plan on keeping your truck for a long time I highly reccomend getting a code reader. I bought one a Kragens for 30 dollars and it works great.

I have a feeling the computer is picking up a detonation problem...check out the codes though.

man i cant pull the codes it doesnt stay on long enough to get a code out of it... i tried.. nothing came out

Any light should leave a code in memory. Are you following the readers directions? Sounds just like my old 92 F-150 , was the EGR switch on top of it. Good luck.

Your doing it wrong

Just as luckild said if the light come on the ECM holds a code...
you are doing something wrong.
If the ECM will not hold a code the IT IS BAD.
