I've sealed a deal to acquire a first gen F1. The current owner says he thinks it's a '52. Are the rear windows different from '48 to '52? There isn't an I.D. tag on the glive bix door. It's a rolling xhassis and cab. I'm brand new to the F1 scene and have very little knowledge of the differences. Thank you for any information.

That cab appears to be a 48-50, as 51-52 have a larger rear window.
There appears be a notch cut of the chassis, but more concerning is that the cab mounts on the cab appear to have been cut. I hope you are getting this for free, because there's not much there.

Good morning JPMallory,
Thank you for responding so quickly.
The chassis has been "zeed". The current owner is a retired welder and fabricator. I have 100% confidence in his work. He has started channeling the cab. At $500, I thought the price was more than reasonable. My goal is to have a low-slung rat rod. No road trips, just local cruise-ins and car shows.
Thanks again.

Gotcha. There's a vin decoder on this site somewhere that will help determine the year, or you can post it and someone here will likely help you decode it. Also the vin should be stamped on the front passenger frame rail, just forward of the axle. You can validate that against the glove box vin to see if they match.

Welcome to the site.
Thank you kindly for that information. I haven't brought the truck home yet. I'm anxious to bring it home and start that long road to drivability. Have a great day.
Hi Doti, I see a tag on the firewall post a photo. I think Ford went to the larger rear window in the mid 50's.Does the truck have a bed? 48-49 bed side have a raised stamp panel. $500 bucks sounds like a fair price IMO.
The cab appears to be a 48-50. Those had smaller back windows than the 51-2 which share the same basic shape. It's also noteworthy that it's never had a heater as there's no hose holes cut in the firewall. the small tag in the corner of the firewall will have your serial number on it, and there should also be a matching stamp in the frame rail near the right side motor mount. You may also find some numbers hand stamped in the firewall across the top or in the flat below the seam. If you can find and post those, with the serial number, we can give you all kinds of production details like build date, original color and where it was built.
Originally it looked like this example below, and you can search online for 48, 49 or 50 ford pickup and find all kinds of pictures of modified ones for inspiration since you're looking to build a more radical version. They're cool trucks and look good in a lot of different ways.

Hi Moejr, thank you for pointing that out. The truck is still with the guy selling it. I'll try to get a picture of the tag. There isn't a bed but maybe a tailgate. I'll check it a little closer. Thanks again.

Hi 52 Merc, thank you for sharing the information and the pictures. My ultimate goal is to have a rat rod. If it'll drive, stop and not overheat..I'll be happy.
