My '65 F-350 has a drain plug which is directly over the front crossmember. When draining the coolant, there is inevitably a big mess... best(?) way has been to hold my hand over the initial geyser and direct it into a wide bucket beneath the crossmember, which has holes in it. (The crossmember, not the bucket)
I had to pull the rad recently to have a couple of pinholes in the top tank and its seam repaired. Now would be a great time for a petcock with a hose barb, so I can attach a hose to route the stream directly into a suitable container.
Today I bought a Dorman 61105... looked good except for the 1/8 NPT thread (easily fixed with a 1/4 bushing). But the seat was not properly machined (tool gouges) and without a packing of some sort, maybe a little O-ring, it definitely will leak. I can blow a tiny bit of air through it, too. So I need a recommendation for a better quality unit... thanks.
