Hey all, thinking about buying a 1995 f250 with the 7.3 powerstroke. It needs a new transmission and I’m wondering what years of the e40d will work in it without having to change any wiring.
I have the Banks Transcommand; my understanding is that is an addition to the stock electronic controls. Installed it so long ago that I forget exactly what it does, maybe something like increase line pressures for firmer shifting. I remember a modest but noticable improvement in shift quality. The Transcommand plugs in between the stock transmission wiring harness and the transmission plug. It's not a stand-alone controller. So you still need the original wiring and controls AND the correct transmission.
I know what it is, I don't understand why you think it may affect if the other transmission would fit or not.
The Banks Transcommand is a resistor in a fancy package. It lowers the voltage to the EPC (electronic pressure control) solenoid, which causes higher line pressure across the board.
