the part in question is on the lower intake manifold for my 351W. It sits right behind the water outlet and thermostat. It comes up out of the manifold and has a metal pipe going to the heater core and another smaller hose that goes to the throttle body. There's a sensor that sits in it as well. i don't know the actual name for it, but the parts guy at the Ford dealer knew what I was talking about and quoted me a price of................$293.91! That's not even with the sensor, just the stupid fitting! I tried Autozone, Napa and Advance Auto and they all said the same thing. Don't have it, can't get it. They couldn't find the part anywhere. It'll be a cold day in hell when I pay $300 for that little thing. I only paid $500 for the whole dang truck! Anyway, I scoured the U-pull a part in town and didn't have any luck. They're the only junk yard in town that'll let you out in the yard and the others I called said they wouldn't have that part. So, I think tomorrow I'll go to Home Depot and try to fabricate something to work until I can find one somewhere. So, anyone know the actual name for this particular part? Thanks!
yeah I sure can. I won't be home until tomorrow afternoon though. As soon as I get home I'll post a pic in my gallery. Of course mine is broken and off the truck but you'll know it when you see it. I'll also take a pic of the part a buddy and I put together using brass fittings to replace it. We spent $22 at home depot versus the $300 Ford wanted for it.
okay, finally got the pics in the gallery. I've got pics of the part I put together to replace it also. Been busy working on the Bronco. Got my new heads in and got those put on. Installed my rods, rocker arms, lower intake manifold, fuel rail and injectors...everything was going as planned until the %@^! exhaust manifold. It won't match up no way, no how. Gave up after 3 hours and getting only 5 bolts in. Jacked the exhaust, pushed it, pulled it, hammered it....no joy. Anyway, ordered some headers from Summit yesterday so now just waiting on parts.
What heads did you go with that they won't allow direct fitment of the exhaust manifolds?
I have not seen a bronco with that kinda soft top, I have seen them where they kinda swoop down if that make sense?
I found pix of the part in question but no name, just yet. Obviously it is sometype of bypass tube for the throttle body, as well as, holder of an emissions sensor more likely than not, but that doesn't help you any. Seems you did a fine job making a replacement. Someone should be able to say for sure, I will let you know something, should I find something on it. They put those on carbed engines, as well, so it has to be for emissions purposes, sensor etc., just thinking out loud. later
Actually I went with just stock remanufactured heads which were the only heads in the budget this close to Christmas. The exhaust manifold should bolt right up, but apparently they are warped or twisted, or whatever. I wanted headers anyway, so no big deal I guess. The soft top is made by "specialty top co." in Denver. Haven't seen many like it. I know the one you are talking about, kinda like a tonneau cover that goes up to the roof. Anyway, the unnamed part holds the coolant temp sensor I figured out. Goes to the heater core and the throttle body. That's all I know, no switches or valves inside it, just straight on through.
