Hey y’all, I’m wanting to get a new custom shift **** for my 87 f150 4x4. The problem is I don’t know what type of adapter I need, I’m not even sure what to call this. The **** it came with doesn’t even fit on it, it just sits and spins. Can someone tell me what adapter I need? Pictures of the stick are attached.

The **** is press fit. Someone probably removed it and then it does not fit properly the next time without doing the suggestions in the previous posts.
on my 87 i got either a 1/2 or 3/4 (dont remember the size) all thread coupler and threaded the shift lever to match the thread. then put a pistol grip shifter out of one of my old big rigs on it.
did the same to the trans shifter and had a t handle on that one.
I don't have any first hand experience with the transfer case shifter. But I intend to get one eventually to match the transmission shifter i had him make. Billet short shifter with an s bend handle for the zf5
You can always heat sheink the shaft if you wanted a black look instead of billet alunimum.
So there’s no adapter for it? I’d prefer an adapter so I have more options for shift *****.
No adapter just a new ****
And the heat gun method is the only way to install a OE Ford ****
You can thread the shaft
A buddy gave me a 1995 F150 he had threaded the shift **** on
He had a black cue ball threaded on there (looked like an 8 ball with the 8's drilled out)
Heating a n new **** on there is the easiest
Right, if you thread the shaft with a die, you can use an adapter and any threaded **** you want
I see Hurst T shift handles on the transfer case levers sometimes
My buddy said it was easy to tap his M5OD shift lever on the truck he gifted me
