Fuel pump questions
I am having a problem with my fuel pump, About 5 months ago I replaced my fuel pump because it was making a lot of noise, about 2 weeks ago I replaced it again because it was again making a loud noise and I got a low fuel pressure warning and it went in and out of limp mode. After 2 weeks it started making noise again, it’s like there is lots of air in the line then a loud whining noise. Today I replaced the pump for the 3rd time and it still sounds like it has air in it. I don’t know what it can be I can’t see any fuel leaking anywhere.
it did get quieter when I removed the upper fuel filter inlet line. I removed it to try and purge the air but it didn’t work
any help is appreciated

And did you do at least 6 priming cycles, Key on Engine off (DFCM stays on for 30 seconds), to purge the air? I do between 12 to 15 cycles on my truck when I change my filters.
Sounds like you have an air leak somewhere...

and yes I changed the lower filter

This was the codes I got when the pump went bad
I cleared the codes after replacing the pump and so far they haven’t come back

Few questions.. This is a 6.7? You stated there are no codes (now, correct? and did you check with a scan program like FORScan?). Where did you purchase the parts from (are they "genuine" Motorcraft?) and did you take the lower filter apart or just install on your truck (as you received it?).
And reference your question about if it leaks air, it would leak fuel, usually not. Air leaks with lower filter are common problem.

Also, you know that there's stops on both the housing and the upper part of the DFCM that meet when its tightened properly? It can be overtightened and those stops will break...
This is my spare lower housing for mine. Not saying you don't know this or this is the case, just trying to rule this out for you...
When i change my filters, I take a flashlight and shine it up where these stops are, towards the back of the filter, to make sure they meet and I don't overtighten the housing.

yes it’s a 6.7
I used the ezlink module to scan the truck and clear the codes
Also I checked if the filter housing was hitting the stops and it is
the pump is a denco pump, it has a lifetime warranty so I paid a little more to get it
the upper fuel filter is genuine motor craft
also the codes have not returned

I did loosen a tiny bit and retighten again to make sure everything was good.
update I turned on the truck and it seems like the air is getting less but I haven’t driven it just started and idled
is there such a thing as using a scan tool to get air out?

So many times the aftermarket items tend to be the problem. Overkill discussed about the stops and you already know about that.
If you are going to stay with that unit, possibly drain, remove the filter and oring, make certain the oring and channel are clean, use something like white grease to lube the oring (very thin film) and try again to prime (5-6x). That is the only way to get the air out. If you still hear air, it is the housing or oring not seating or sealing.

My last turuck was a Ram so I spent a lot of time there.
Best of luck getting this sorted out
