I’m looking to replace all the glass and accompanying gaskets in my 1954 f-600. Any recommendations as to where to purchase and what the OEM tinting was. Thanks, John
I would recommend, Auto City Classic, Isanti, MN. 800-828-2212. I was there last Friday and picked up the windshield and back glass for my 1955 F100. Warehouse full of glass, friendly and very helpful.
If you've got a good local glass shop, all of the windows except the windshield are flat glass and can be cut there at the store. They'll have the correct laminated safety glass, or can cut from plate and tempered if you prefer. They'll be able to source a windshield, too. The good part about having the glass shop order the glass is if they install it and break it, that's on them. If you bring in glass for them to install, you're out of luck if there's an issue.

Agreed with Wayne. I had Safelite Auto Glass cut my door glass and wing vent glass for my 55 F350 in 2016. The shop foreman installed the vent glass in the vent frame and put the door glass in the channel for me. Not everything was ready when I picked it up. So to save me the 30 mile trip to his shop, he met me in my town on his way home.
I used Diamond Auto Glass in 1999 for my 54 F100. They ordered the windshield and went to the body shop to install it.
The glass in our trucks would have been clear. I don't believe Ford started using tinted glass until the late 50's-early 60's in cars, maybe later in trucks. Ford tinted glass is identified by the Sun-X marking in the logo "bug".
I think in 53-56 you could order something Ford called, again I think, "Easy Eye" tinted glass. I'll have to check my 53-56 extra cost options
literature. I'll do that later tonight.
Here is a picture from the Ford truck Dealer Handbook. I have them for 54, 55 and 56. All 3 list Tinted Glass as an extra cost option installed at the factory. So I assume tinted glass was an option in 1953 also . This page is from the 1955 handbook.
But I have not found the name that Ford used to promote it. Again, I am thinking something like "Easy Eye tinted glass." But I'm not sure where I saw that.
edit: don't know why this screen shot is so out of focus. I found this on line. So you'll have to trust me if you can't read "I-rest." I do have a copy of this brochure.... if I can find it I can take a picture of that page.
