Left my truck sitting for a few days and when I got in to use it the dash flashed the "Service Brake System" message in scary red coloring but then went away on its own after a few seconds. Didn't come back the rest of the day. The following day I got in the truck to go to work and the same thing happened. Got the warning message when I started the truck, but it went away after a few seconds. Anybody else seen this before? Is it a sign of impending issues or just a normal occurance?
I got this same error when before when there was nothing wrong with my brake system. I kind of ignored it for a few weeks until after a few cold mornings I was getting real slow starts. Turned out that my batteries were getting old and not holding voltage. Two new batteries and the brake warnings went away and never came back.
Fast forward 4+ years to several months ago, my clock kept changing itself to military time and my Banks iDash would not power on when starting the truck. Voltage was down around 11V on one battery after driving it. Two more new batteries and those issues also went away. Others on this forum have reported odd symptoms / warnings when the batteries are at the end of life.
