I have a 2000 7.3 with 475k miles on it. It runs good and strong but I’m curious about what things I can do to extend its life even more. Any suggestions?

That said the 7.3 is arguably as bullet proof as the old Cummins. If you take care of it, don't rag on it, and keep the oil full and fresh, it'll last a LONG time.
Whatever engine oil you use when changing engine oil back in, replace one quart of engine oil with one quart of Lucas Oil. Helps keep things sealed and helps engine start better in cold.

Don't put any additives in your engine oil. If the oil needs an additive then it isn't a good oil.

100% agreed, particularly with the HEUI injection system on this engine using highly pressurized engine oil to fire the injectors. A quality oil that meets the Ford WSS-M2C171-F1 specification and changed regularly is recommended.
Id like to see a few highest miles 7.3 posts. I dont have one but a buddy has 400K on his 02. A couple sets of injectors, a trans, drive shaft rebuild and some unit bearings and it goes and goes.
How long have you owned the truck? Have you ever replaced injectors?
The best part of the 7.3 is longevity of injection components and, as a result, rotating assembly.... and basically nothing else. It doesn't get good mileage vs other diesels, it doesn't make much power compared to other diesels, it's much more complicated than other diesels, but damn will it keep running (the caveat is having to replace sensors and an IDM along the way). There are things you can do to check the health of your injection components, some of which require a lot of time, others not so much. Does it start well when cold? What does the blowby look like? There are also things you can do for a "tune up" that I'll get into if that's where we wanna go with the thread, such as injector cleaning and oil additives, but the reality is:
No other engine in a pickup truck, and possibly on the planet, has reached 500k miles on factory injection components in more vehicles than the 7.3 powerstroke. How's that for longevity?
