My truck has everything that I want with the exception of cab lights. I just like the look of lights on top. I know that I can install them, but my question is, is there a factory plug already in my truck for the cab lights? If so, where exactly would it be? I'm about to start ordering parts but want to make sure that I get everything. Thanks for the info in advance.
The 17-19 trucks had the factory plug behind the A-pillar on the passenger side. I believe the '20+ trucks moved it either to the drivers side, or farther down towards the passenger side kick panel...I can't remember which. I don't have a 20-22 service manual to confirm.
I just swapped them out on my 2017 to the "updated" design and the center three lights are a different part number than the outer two. I can't see any reason for this other than there is a rectangular cutout in the sheet metal on the side of the hole and a corresponding plastic tab that has to line up with it. On the center lights the cutout is to the right and on the outside lights it is to the left (or vice versa). So If you are using OEM lights, be aware of this. My dealer missed it too and I had to make a couple extra trips to return the two that didn't work for me and them ordering the ones I needed.
I'm in the middle of doing this on my 2024. The plug for the 2024 is at the A pillar, passenger side in the front where you'll see some white insulation that looks like cotton. It's clipped on a metal support piece. It has the male side of the plug clipped into the socket. I got a wire harness from Limitless Autoworks that solders onto the Recon harness.
