As an update....
It has gone away! I haven't had the chance to get it into the garage, and since it has been snowing a bunch, I have been using 4WD now and then. It won't do it in 4WD. But now, it doesn't do it in 2WD. Almost like something that needed to be lubed kind of lubed up now that I've been driving around again.
Terrible solution, and I bet any mechanic reading this is cringing!
