I'm wondering about anyone's experience with Innova 5610. I have an Innova 3100, a laptop and soon to get a picoscope so my question is does the 5610 offer any advantage as far as showing more codes like dealer codes, than my old one. I have a Ford diagnosis book so I have a way to look up codes but since I rarely have problems I don't want to spend for something that won't make my diagnosis capabilities better than they are now unless I get more dealer codes. I'm putting this here because code readers may give different results with different year models.
My truck is 2013 w/ 5.0.
does not appear to be bidirectional. I have the Xtool. It's amazing, look into it. The 3100 seems to be outdated quite a bit. A decent scan tool is not cheap for these newer cars.
The best scanner is the one you likely already own, your Windows laptop/tablet. (Mac not applicable).
Grab a cheap Bluetooth ELM327 off Amazon or ebay (wired for programming) and download a free software over at forscan.org. Now you almost have the power of the dealer scan tool in your hands.
I'll certainly look into XTool. Thanks for your opinion about this. I hate to spend money on stuff I wind up not using.
honestly the scanner you have will probably be ok for most situations. I do like the Xtool because it has special functions. For example I just used it for a BMS reset after a new battery.
maybe rather than buying a new scanner, use that money toward truck maintenance/fluids/tune up.
