How do I tell what the correct sub-model is on my truck? I have a 1992 F-150 short box and I always have to answer question of the submodel as Custom, XL, or XL Lariat ? Does my vin# say it somewhere ?
Thanks I'm looking for body parts and do not want any problems. That and I would like the correct answer
Body parts are pretty much the same across the board.
Do you not have any fender badges or dash trim that says XL, XLT, or Custom?
Don't believe there was much of a difference outside of power locks, power windows, few radio options, and dofferent seats/carpet. The "bones" or the truck didn't change except for cab/bed configurations and 2 or 4wd.
exactly. sheet metal is the same no matter sub model.
XL was bare bones plain jane truck. usually hand crank windows, no A/C, am radio, rubber floor mats, vinyl bench seat .
XLT usually had power window/door locks, A/C, carpet, cloth seats, am/fm/cassette radio
lariat, had A/C, full power, am/fm/cassette/ and sometimes CD radio, carpet, cloth bucket seats, and a bunch of other items standard.
