This morning I went to start the truck (6.7L) and it did not start right away but instead it delayed for few second. There was a notice that popped up on the screen but I did not see it soon enough but got the gist it was telling me to wait and the engine is about to start. It started after just a few seconds.
I've only owned it for a few month and they were during the heat of Az summer. Today it was much cooler (50's) but not what I would call cold.
Is this a delay waiting for the glow plugs to heat? Does this engine even have glow plugs?
I know the '23's have quick start glow plugs. I would have assumed the '22's have the same. I would think a 1, 2, 3 second delay in "cooler" weather would be acceptable.
How did it start after it was up to operating temp?
Yes, has glow plugs and the start is regulated by the pcm, it will start when the computer says it is ready.
But, in 50 degree temps I have never had such a starting delay as you describe, mine has to be down in below freezing temps before any delay happens.
Yes, my 2019 did it and my 24 does it. Was 43* the other morning and it took about 2.5 seconds between pressing the button and starting. When the GP get old, the startup delay will get longer until one or two start to fail, then you get CEL to replace the plugs, but the truck will still start even with old plugs. The 6.7 starts a LOT easier than the 7.3 did.

I’ve had the “wait to start” pop up a few times, but it’s always less than a second. I have a key start, not a push button, that might make a slight difference. But they warm up super-fast.
