Lights in door?

Lights in door?
I'm new to Explorers, I've recently purchased a 94' Explorer Sport and love it so far. There are two things that need fixing though. The first is both doors have a light in them, neither of them work. Question is when are these lights supposed to come on? When the headlights are on, or simply when you open the doors? Also do the lens simply pop off to replace the bulbs?
Second is my rear wiper doesn't work. The rear washer motor works so it leads me to believe that its not the fuse because they share the same one. Question is are there any other switches other than the dash switch, like something to check that the rear glass is closed? Any common problems with these rear wipers not working?
