460 fit?

I have just recently bought a 81 F250 4x4 auto. with what I'm told it has a 351m in it. I have a 460 that is still in a 76mercury marquis (2 door) its a rare one too bad the car is rusted out.
I was told that my 460 would bolt right in. Is this true? It would be nice.
Thanks
Steve

With the proper parts it's a bolt in. I would head out to the wrecking yard to pick up the correct frame perches to hang the big block and you will need to get the correct converter to make the connection. The car one may work. You willl also need a rear sump pan and pickup along with some pickup manifolds. It really is a bolt in once you have all the pieces. You will really like the extra power. It's like a built in tail wind any where you go. The torque is incredible. Just find a truck like yours that already had the 460 in it and you will see the differences. Also get the biggest radiator you can fit in your truck. I have a 4 core diesel one in my van and even towing in 105 degree heat I can idle or pull all I want and have yet to get my temp guage over 195.

You will want to get a bigger radiator, i did the 400m - 460 swap in my 77 f150 4x4. Way more power, i couldnt barely spin the tires in the rain with the 400, now i can smoke them all day long on dry pavement. The torque is incredible, and the fuel mileage is about the same. You can buy plates that bolt on to the 460 block that makes it so you can use the existing 351 motor mounts, mine were $70. The exhaust will need to be replaced or redone, the 460 is wider.

Oh yeah, you can tell if its a 351/400 already in it if it has 8 bolts on each valve cover.

Yea It has a 351 in it (8 bolts on each valve cover).
I would like to leave the motor in it for a while more, the truck only has 150,000km (93,000 miles) but the oil pressure is normal until it warms up then it will go down to 25 and sometimes less. I dont want the thing to letgo way back in the bush. That is where things like to break! Go figure.
